GeneSys Elektrotechnik GmbH has set another milestone towards sustainability and innovation with its new office and laboratory building in Offenburg. The modern building, which covers an area of 1200 m² and offers space for around 65 employees, was occupied at the beginning of 2024. It meets the strict requirements of energy efficiency level 40 EE, which corresponds to both the company's sustainability goals and the latest energy standards.
It was very important for the client to find a flexible and efficient solution for controlling the lighting and building technology that would not only optimize energy consumption but also offer maximum convenience. The decision was made in favour of Theben, primarily due to the close cooperation with our field service representative (ADM), who was on hand to provide advice from the outset. Any minor challenges that arose during implementation were quickly and reliably resolved by the ADM, which ensured the smooth implementation of the project.
A comprehensive selection of KNX products from Theben was used to meet the requirements. These included the IPsecure interface, line couplers, DALI gateways and various power supplies. Particularly noteworthy is the use of 87 devices that cover the entire building control system - from lighting control and blinds control to the energy-saving use of all electrical loads. The installation of theMura P180 motion detectors also enabled optimum motion and lighting control in all rooms.
The combination of these intelligent KNX components resulted in significant added value for GeneSys. The square detection areas of the motion detectors ensured precise detection in the rooms and reduced unwanted switching to a minimum. This not only allows for easier planning, but also ensures reliable and efficient control tailored to the specific needs of the building. In addition to functionality, the company benefits in the long term from a significant reduction in energy consumption, which has a positive impact on operating costs and the environmental footprint. Thanks to the seamless integration and flexibility of Theben KNX solutions, it was possible to create tailor-made building technology that not only meets the requirements for intelligent and sustainable building automation today, but will continue to do so in the future.
